What are you thanking the judge for? It was the jury that gave the punitive award. How much of that punitive award do you think the plaintiff will share with you? The potential settlement will not result in you getting a windfall, even if you do get some portion of your loss covered.
The people on the Gulf bought Hurricane insurance. With the advent of Hurricane Katrina, it is time to pay the Hurricane Claims. In the history of the world all waves in a wind storm are caused by WIND.
The insurance mobsters need to pay their claims or get run out of town. The courtroom hours need to be extended 24/7 in order to bring these insurance mobsters to justice. For now we need laws which outlaw bogus insurance and bought off State insurance commissioner.
Please remember State Farm is not the only insurer that is denying claims and not paying a cent on slabs. There are still suits against Nationwide, Allstate and others who have treated their policy holders as if they were all ignorant and would take any amount offered for settlement. A kick \’em when they are down attitude. I wish Nationwide would pay me 1% of what FED EX will make on the commercial for the Superbowl. justaslab
I have to ask the question. Why does someone living on the coast not buy flood insurance. Is there an availability issue? A flood policy with adequate limits would have solved most homeowners problems.
This is not about flood insurance.
They Paid.
The Hurricane Policy is supposed to pay for wind damage, living expenses if your home is uninhabitable and contents ruined from wind damage.
STATE FARM PAID $000000 NOTHING !
WHAT PART OF THIS DON\’T YOU UNDERSTAND?
NOT FLOOD!!!! INSURANCE COMPANIES ALL DENIED KATRINA WINDS…. REFUSED TO PAY 0.
THEY LIED & CHEATED HOMEOWNERS.
El Nino, Ozone, GLobal Warming…
all signs of natural disasters.
To all of the people who think we are trying to get something for free,
You will find the truth when a natural disaster destroyes your home.
Only then will you understand what we are fighting for. Your policy does not cover anything. Not even collapse.
I was not in a flood zone, mortgage co. didn\’t require it and I was 19 ft. above sea level. I have lived in coastal Georgia and did purchase flood insurance. Besides, a tornado took my house. Had eye witness who stayed through the storm. Still Nationwide has not paid. justaslab

True, but I heard that the Judge awarded the 2.5 million.
I am happy to see justice.

What financial protection?
Even If the policy was free,
it does not guarantee the homeowner with any financial protection.
Too all of you that keep referring to \”Hurricane Policies\”…
THERE IS NO SUCH THING!
And, having a \”Hurricane Deductible\” does not give you coverage for anything and everything that occurs durring a hurricane.
If you\’re going to talk about insurance, at least use the right terminology.
