The Norris School District and its insurer have settled a lawsuit by the family of a volleyball player who was injured when she slid into bleachers at Norris High School in 2008.
The Lincoln Journal Star says the settlement of $105,000 includes a payment of more than $93,000 to Michaela Woodward when she turns 25. She’s 14 now.
Her family’s lawsuit said district officials were negligent in leaving the bleachers extended and not properly supervising the volleyball practice in which the girl was hurt.
Lancaster County District Judge Paul Merritt Jr. approved the settlement and dismissed the case earlier this week.
