Mich. Restoration Co. Participates in ABC-TV’s Extreme Home Makeover

March 27, 2006

Disaster Kleenup International, Inc., damage restoration contractors, today announced that Statewide Disaster Restoration, a DKI member company located in Southfield, Mich. was recently asked by ABC-TV’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition television show to assist on a special series of episodes.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was working on an “After the Storm” special project focused on Florida, Mississippi and Texas. For this special series, the show asked for the assistance of Statewide, a full service restoration company, to repair commercial properties that were hardest hit by the hurricanes of 2005. The aim was to get local companies back in business so that these devastated communities could make progress in the recovery process.

Filming for these projects started the first week of February and focused on helping a Little League ball field in Florida, a medical clinic in Mississippi and concluded with a high school auditorium in Texas. ABC will air the four special episodes weekly starting March 23, 2006 (check local listing for channel and times). In this first one-hour special, the Statewide and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition teams head to Biloxi, Miss. to work together to rebuild a local free medical clinic, along with other cornerstones of the community, as well as erect a memorial to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

“It is an honor to be called on by a show that has such a large impact on the lives of so many and a great feeling to be part of such a life changing experience,” said Adam Becker, president of Statewide Disaster Restoration. “Even though Statewide is a local Michigan-based company, we were able to pull this off with the help and assistance of the national network of DKI member companies.”

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is a weekly television program that is self-contained and features a race against time on a project that would ordinarily take at least four months to achieve. The program involves a team of designers, contractors and several hundred workers who have just seven days to totally rebuild every single room of an entire house, plus the exterior and landscaping.
