The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) announced a Felicity man has been sentenced for a felony charge of workers’ compensation fraud.
George Shelton was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to pay BWC $55,778.06 in restitution. Shelton paid $6,282.56 to BWC prior to the hearing.
BWC’s special investigations unit (SIU) learned of possible fraud by Shelton through an anonymous tip. The investigation reportedly confirmed Shelton was working while receiving workers’ comp benefits. Shelton, a.k.a. Bubby, was self employed doing septic work for a business he called Bubby’s Septic Service.
Shelton suffered injuries to his back in June 2000 while working for Steelcraft. BWC awarded Shelton temporary total disability benefits for his injury.
