The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) announced a Warrensville woman has been sentenced for a misdemeanor charge of workers’ compensation fraud.
Cathy Orr was sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay BWC $25,905.27 in restitution. Orr made a payment of $15,000 at the sentencing.
BWC’s special investigation unit (SIU) learned of possible fraud by Orr when the bureau’s automated detection & intelligence team (AD&I) administered a cross match with the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services. The cross match reportedly indicated Orr was working while receiving workers’ comp benefits, and the SIU confirmed she was employed by Our Lady of the Wayside.
Orr suffered a hip, shoulder and back injury in January 2002 while working for Warrensville Developmental Center. BWC awarded Orr temporary total disability benefits for her injury.
