Missouri-based Shelter Insurance Companies has licensed the Web-based Claims Workstation system from Fiserv Insurance Solutions, a unit of Fiserv Inc.
Shelter Insurance Companies will use Claims Workstation for claims life cycle management from first notice of loss through salvage, subrogation and litigation management.
“Claims Workstation met our requirements for enabling consistency, accuracy and accountability in handling claims,” said Pat Gruber, vice president of Claims for Shelter Insurance Companies. “With Claims Workstation, we also benefit from the latest technology and functionality Fiserv Insurance Solutions has built into the system.”

Claims Workstation supports all P/C lines of business and integrates a business rules engine that allows insurance carriers to define business processes and identify unique business rules that can be used in workload management.
Carriers are able to establish various authority levels so that claims professionals make even more effective use of their time. Seamless integration with electronic content management systems enables real-time access to all electronic media associated with a claim, resulting in a paper-free claims environment. In addition, integration with outside, third-party claims service providers speeds the claims settlement process, resulting in better customer service.
Shelter Insurance Cos. operate in a 13-state area in the central portion of the U.S., offering insurance products for auto, homeowners, business, farm, boat owners, personal liability and life.
