ACE Tempest Re Appoints Swayne as Chief Underwriting Officer-International

ACE Tempest Reinsurance Ltd., the ACE Group’s Bermuda-based property and specialty catastrophe reinsurer, has announced the appointment of Guy Swayne to the position of Chief Underwriting Officer,-International.

He will report to ACE Tempest Re President Andreas Lewin and will assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of the reinsurer’s international catastrophe business.

Swayne previously served as Executive VP, ACE Financial Solutions International (ACE FSI) with responsibility for managing the division’s business in Europe and Australia. ACE FSI, the Bermuda-based subsidiary of ACE Bermuda Insurance Ltd., provides non-traditional insurance and reinsurance solutions for international companies.

Commenting on the appointment, Lewin stated: “I am delighted to welcome Guy to ACE Tempest Re. His wealth of experience in both the conventional and non-traditional reinsurance market will be a great asset to our international underwriting team as we continue to deliver consistent, value-added reinsurance products to our clients.”

Swayne has almost 20 years of insurance experience. He joined the ACE Group in January 2000 as Senior VP at ACE FSI. In April 2001, he transferred to the London office for a three-year period where he “successfully established a European presence for the ACE Financial Solutions International business,” said the announcement.

Prior to joining ACE Swayne held senior positions as a broker at Aon Re Bermuda and Willis Faber in New York. He started his insurance career in London as an underwriter at John Poland non-marine syndicate at Lloyds.
