In a brief announcement A.M. Best Co. said it has placed the financial strength ratings of “A” (Excellent) and “A+” (Excellent) of St. Paul Guarantee Insurance Company (Toronto) and Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of Canada, respectively, under review with developing implications.
“The current under review status reflects the pending amalgamation of the companies,” said Best. “The planned surviving entity will be St. Paul Guarantee Insurance Company. The ratings will remain under review pending regulatory approval and A.M. Best’s completed analysis of the amalgamation.”
