A chemical firm in New Hampshire has agreed to pay the EPA a fine of nearly $41,000 to resolve allegations it violated safety laws.
JCI Jones Chemicals Inc., of Merrimack processes, stores and ships chemicals for water treatment.
The EPA alleged the company failed to adequately evaluate risks associated with storing and handling chlorine and sulfur dioxide in proximity to incompatible chemicals.
The EPA also said JCI failed to immediately notify authorities of an accidental release of sodium hydrochlorite from a ruptured storage tank in 2010.
