Virginia emergency management officials are planning a statewide tornado drill in March.
The drill will take place on March 11 at 9:45 a.m. It is a joint effort between the state Department of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service.
Emergency management officials say it is important for people to know what to do if a tornado warning is issued for their area. Acting state coordinator Brett Burdick says 67 tornadoes have hit Virginia in the past three years, including five last year with no reported injuries.
Instructions and registration for the statewide drill are available at http://www.vaemergency.gov.
