The Maryland State Fire Marshal is announcing multiple arrests in a string of arsons in western Maryland.
Spokesman Bruce Bouch says details will be released at a news conference Tuesday afternoon in Hagerstown.
The agency has investigated at least 19 suspicious fires in Washington County since March 17.
Bouch says the same suspects are connected to a couple of fires in Frederick County.
The fires mostly involved motor vehicles and trash containers. There was at least one garage fire, and a barn fire that caused $50,000 worth of damage.
The total damage estimate for all the fires exceeds $130,000.
Bouch says there are no firefighters among the suspects. He says the arsons are not connected to 77 fires on Virginia’s Eastern Shore allegedly set by a former firefighter.
