An 8-year-old Springfield, Va., boy who set up a lemonade stand to help his neighbors rebuild their home after it was damaged by a recent storm has surpassed his goal.
The Washington Post reports that Johnny Karlinchak has raised $500 for the family’s insurance deductible.
People who saw the story in the newspaper over the weekend also donated money, and on Monday evening Johnny raised an additional $214 to help the family.
The boy especially wanted to help the family’s dog, who lost her bed in the storm.
