A Catholic church is Vermont is planning to install surveillance cameras after somebody painted a pentacle and the number “666” on the side of the church.
The Rev. John Feltz says somebody tagged the St. Ann Parish in Milton sometime between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday.
The pentacle is a symbol sometimes to witchcraft or Tarot practices. The number “666” in modern culture is a widely recognized symbol of the devil. It also appears in the Bible as the “number of the beast.”
Feltz told the Burlington Free Press he’s irked by the graffiti, but he stopped short of calling it a hate crime.
Police are investigating.
