New Hampshire firefighters are investigating an early morning fire on the property of a summer theatre in Whitefield.
The managing director of the Weathervane Theatre said a historic barn that once served as a theater and now houses props was destroyed by the fire.
The theater’s managing director Lyn Winter praised firefighters for preventing the flames from destroying the new theater that was built next door. She says firefighters also rescued historic artifacts from the theater, including the original weather vane.
WMUR-TV reports that three firefighters suffered minor injuries battling the fire, including a sprained ankle and minor burns.
The theater’s web site says the theater finished its 46th season in September.
