Police in Maine say they’re not sure how many people were on a Carrabassett Valley fire escape when it collapsed, seriously injuring four people.
Carrabassett Valley Police Chief Scott Nichols says the small fire escape at the bar The Rack collapsed and fell about 15 feet under the weight of too many people early Sunday.
Nichols told the Sun Journal newspaper that the bar was busy Saturday due to a Reggae festival.
The Rack co-owner Chase McKendry says the fire escape was built to code, updated and inspected.
Nichols says the four people injured suffered broken bones and lacerations. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
