Delaware fire officials say a fire that heavily damaged a building near Newport earlier this month was a case of arson.
It took firefighters three hours to control the blaze in the single-story building. Damage was estimated at $500,000.
Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Alan Brown said Monday that an investigation found that the fire reported on Oct. 15 at Middleboro Ventures in the 100 block of Middleboro Road was deliberately set.
The investigation is continuing, and fire officials asking anyone with information on the fire to call the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
