The Massachusetts state fire marshal and Everett officials are investigating eight fires they say were deliberately set.
Fire Marshal Stephen Coan said Sunday that the fires were set during a 45-minute period between 11 p.m. and midnight Saturday. No injuries were reported.
He says the most serious fire was adjacent to the exterior of a muti-family house and did damage valued at several hundred thousand dollars. Coan says the other fires were in trash or recycling bins close to buildings or under porches. They were extinguished before causing damage to buildings.
The fires were within a half-mile of each other.
State troopers also are investigating.
