Delaware transportation officials say traffic fatalities in 2009 dropped 5 percent from 2008.
Officials with the Office of Highway Safety say 116 people were killed in motor vehicle crashes last year. In 2008, 122 people died in traffic accidents.
Last year’s figures were the lowest since 1999, when 104 people were killed.
Officials say 36 of the 166 traffic deaths, or 31 percent, were alcohol related.
