Connecticut Democratic Chairman Sues Former Candidate

The chairman of the Derby Democratic Town Committee is suing a former mayoral candidate over comments in an Internet blog.

Samuel Rizzitelli says that the “Derby Politics” blog written by Melvin Thompson has defamed him and he has filed suit in Milford Superior Court.

Rizzitelli’s lawyer says the blog has affected his client to the point where he can’t sleep at night. He says the statements made about Rizzitelli are outrageous and have clearly crossed the line many times.

The blog has made derogatory comments against various individuals, referring to some as mobsters or members of the Ku Klux Klan.

Thompson says the lawsuit is a desperate act “filed by a desperate man.”
