I pose this question to those who think drinking and driving is not the devil MADD portrays it to be. If you have children, would you tell them it is okay to drink and drive? Would you tell them, as many of you have said, it is okay to have a few drinks after work and get legally intoxicated, then drive home?

Go get ’em!! Maybe you and another drunk driver can have a head on collision and we can kill two idiots with one crash! And now that I think about it, you will be promoting job security for EMTs and firestations. Way to do your part in this hurting economy! Have one on me!

‘Course, I still think you are all talk.

You think im all talk? Why dont you come and watch then – Ill consume 5 or 6 quick drinks in 1 hour and then drive safely home in time for the hockey game tonight.

Ill bet you $100 I make it home safe and sound.

Since D&D is soooo dangerous, im sure youll take the bet, right??

I wont even cross that little yellow line or have ANY minor traffic infractions what so ever. You can drive behind me and watch.

Assuming you live long enough to have children, or maybe you do right now, will you tell them it is ok to drink and drive?

I suppose it doesn’t matter, though. You talk a good game. “Ill consume 5 or 6 quick drinks in 1 hour and then drive safely home in time for the hockey game tonight.” You are entertaining. I will give you that.

Frankie, I would never tell my kids to D&D, it takes years of practice!

Good point! Have them practice by drinking & crawling, then drinking & biking and finally drinking & driving!!! Then, when they are all grown up, they can be all talk like daddy and you can tell them stories of how back in the day, you would have 5-6 quick ones and then be home in time for the game. You are hilarious! This is pure gold!

Very enlightening comments, and I think we all agree that we want our roadways to be as safe as possible. However, I did not see one comment or question relating to the article: 1)what are the eleven recommendations made by the NTSB? 2)what are the two Rhode Island implemented? And, if they are only recommendations, not mandates or edicts, should we not know the answers to the above before commenting on the effectiveness of Rhode Island’s (or any other state’s) traffic laws? I could be wrong, but I suspect that there are no states where drunk driving is legal, or isn’t taken seriously, as it should be.
