Another Arrest Made in Connecticut DMV Probe

November 12, 2008

Connecticut state police say they’ve arrested a Bridgeport man they consider to be the “primary middleman” in an alleged state Department of Motor Vehicles bribery scheme.

Thirty-eight-year-old Angel Cabrera has been charged with forgery, bribery and witness tampering. Police say he collected cash from people who wanted to get drivers licenses without taking the state written exam and driving test.

In October, Juan Casiano, an agent in the DMV’s Norwalk office, was arrested for accepting bribes in exchange for forging state driver’s licenses. He’s facing racketeering, forgery and bribery charges. Two alleged accomplices have also been charged.

Cabrera was arrested after he appeared for a biweekly probation hearing.
