Vincent A. Alba, vice president of MRW Group Inc. in Huntington, New York, has been given the Barney Burns Award by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America.
The award recognizes the insurance agent or broker who makes the most significant impact on fund-raising efforts for InsurPac, IIABA’s federal political action committee. The award is named for the founder of the group’s political action committee.
The group says contributions to the PAC have doubled during Alba’s tenure as New York’s InsurPac committee chair for the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York.
The Long Island agent — a former Marine who began his insurance career in 1946, and opened his own agency in 1969 — is no stranger to awards. The Independent Insurance Agents Association of Suffolk County named a significant honor after him: the Vincent A. Alba Lifetime Achievement Award.
He has also received numerous awards from IIABNY, the Downstate Insurance Association Council, and the Tri-County Independent Insurance Agents Association, which named him Insurance Person of The Year in 2007.
Alba was presented with the Burns award earlier this week during IIABA’s legislative conference in D.C.
