I agree with You-Know-Who. She wasn’t promoted and the only way to get some attention was to pull this family discrimination BS. Her superior “judged” someone else to be more qualified for the job. This does not count as discrimination, especially since another woman was given the job! She is setting a poor example for her family.

Seriously when was the last time you went up against someone for a promotion and then after not receiving it you boss gently sat you down and explained why the other person was better suited for the position? When was the last time you applied for a job and didn’t get and had that employer call you and tell you why?

It is the managements fault for saying (or allegedly saying) that she had too much on her place. This is the business world not preschool toughen up!! If you think that someone is going to hold your hand and rub your back anytime you are disappointed you should be staying at home with the kids as you are obviously not able to deal with the cut throat business world.

On a side note does she really think suing her company is the best way to deal with this supposed rejection? Hello, talk about black listing yourself for any future job. The insurance industry is a fairly close nit group of people and now she will be forever known as the “whiner who sues when she is passed up for a promotion.”

Typical BS lawsuit. The pltf thinks she is entitled to everything and when she doesn’t get it she sues. Typcial of the entitlement views of people today.

“…is the best role model my kids can see me in is as a mother, even if it is as a tremendously disatisfied and resentful mother?”

If staying home taking care of your flesh and blood leaves you in this state, you should put your kids up for adoption.

As for going back to 1955, what you really mean is, “Let’s renounce all human experience prior to 1955.” The last 55 years have been great for the family, and for VD rates, illegitimacy, juvenile crime, dropout rates, girls having babies, and so on, right? I mean, in 1955 the average age of a convict was 45, today it is 20. What an improvement!

Willy, You nailed it right on the head. You put it much better than I did. I agree 100% with your last post. It is so true. If these women feel totally unsatified with raising there kids, why have them?

Any manager worth anything, would see a promotion as an oportunity, just like an annual review to talk about strengths and weaknesses of the applicants who don’t get the promotion. You can’t do it with candidates from outside the company, but you should definately do it with internal ones. A large component of a managers job is developing their subordinates. They should know what they do well and what they don’t. Its not “rubbing the back of the disappointed” its resource development for the company.

Everyone’s missing the point which is her right to sue her employer. The judge is right, it’s not a question of one woman being selected over another, it’s whether or not a man would have been considered to have “too much on HIS plate” because he has 4 children. A man’s ability to perform on a job is based on his qualifications. A woman’s ability to perform on a job is based on her qualifications AND her family responsibilities, because we all know that most men do not share equally in the family responsibilities….her employer admitted that by passing over the woman with 4 children in favor of the woman with 2.

No. The real point is whether or not she is just looking for attention.

This is a case of “I’m bored and embarrassed I didn’t get the promotion…so let’s sue”
