I wish I could find my society where everyone is equal (according to the Constitution) where blacks can marry whites, where women are equals instead of subservient. Come to think about it, I am in that society. Its funny how our Founding Fathers wanted a country where they would not be persecuted for their believes, and yet here you are persecuting me.

Instead of listening to your perverted preachers, do a little reading and research on the subject. You might be surprised what you find.

So if I want to preserve the oldest and most basic human institution from being altered to suit sexual deviants, I\’m a hater?

Go invent your own institutions and do with them what you will, and leave normal people -and their children- alone.

Sleepydogg I seriously need you help with this. I may be ignorant of the law but are you implying that someone can marry a person after a relationship of many years, knowing that they have and have had cancer, knowing that they have been and are being treated for cancer and knowing that their relationship was, is and will be impaired due to the treatment of the cancer (whether correctly diagnosed or not) and still claim loss of consortium? Even after less than a year of marriage?

Pat, you\’re a bigoted hater! The world changes, gay people are here to stay, and they don\’t corrupt children. There are so many straight unfit parents out there that any argument of gays being less fit to be parents means that we\’ll need to start taking children away from every moron out there that has children. Many people would argue that YOU shouldn\’t be raising kids as you would instill a hateful prejudiced view in your children. Normal is relative and not everyone believes what you do. At least gays have to decide to have children, unlike many people who enter parenthood accidentally, often when they are not responsible or intelligent enough to raise children effectively. I\’m not gay, but would rather live in a gay society than in one full of people like you! Marriage is not a holy institution, it is abused by people of all races, religions, sexual orientations, and income levels.

\”The world changes, gay people are here to stay, and they don\’t corrupt children.\”

\”Gays\” comprise about 3% of the population, but homosexual child molestation is over-represented by a factor of about x20.

As for gays being the new normal, is this what you mean?

43 percent of white male homosexuals had sex with five hundred or more partners, with 28 percent having 1,000 or more sex partners. (A. P. Bell and M. S. Weinberg, Homosexualities: A Study of Diversity Among Men and Women (New York: Simon and Schuster, 1978), pp. 308, 309; See alsoA. P. Bell, M. S. Weinberg, and S. K. Hammersmith, Sexual Preference (Bloomington: Indiana University Press, 1981).

Is \”gay marriage\” supposed to calm them down?

In The Male Couple, authors David P. McWhirter and Andrew M. Mattison report that in a study of 156 males in homosexual relationships lasting from one to thirty-seven years: Only seven couples have a totally exclusive sexual relationship, and these men all have been together for less than five years. Stated another way, all couples with a relationship lasting more than five years have incorporated some provision for outside sexual activity in their relationships. (David P. McWhirter and Andrew M. Mattison, The Male Couple: How Relationships Develop (Englewood Cliffs: Prentice-Hall, 1984), pp. 252, 253.)

Whatever the issue, there is ONE thing that is very tiring and worrisome. I live in a country I thought was based on a principal of \”majority rules\”. But more and more, and then even more, and then still more, various procedures and practices, laws, and administrative actions seem to favor the minority needs over the majority needs.

In the reality of the working world, employers are afraid to discipline inferior workers who fit some minority profile, for fear of being sued. I\’m not implying even slightly that minority workers are ALL inferior because that\’s not true. There are good and bad workers from all races, creeds, nationalities. But if employers make decisions based on who is most likely to be \”offended\” and sue, rather than merit, we wind up with strange scenarios.

Are we approaching a point where in an effort to make a level playing field for all conceivable minority groups, we have in fact created an impossibly uneven playing field for the majority?

\”Because the Bible says so.\” It\’s the lamest excuse for anything I can think of.

The bible was written by humans centuries after the stories took place. Parts of the bible were omitted and added to in order to suit someone\’s political agenda. How ignorant of you.

By the way, I\’ve read the bible as well as holy books from other religions.

Where did NOT CHRISTIAN (which probably explains it) purchase the Bible he/she supposedly read, Iran?

At least I know I do not have to be afraid to meet my maker concerning the issues being discussed here. Others yes, just as you and everyone else will so take care of your own business and look in the mirror, you will find ignorance there I am sure.

If you respond, think before you spew.

Please supply us with a list of texts that were added and omitted, and the dates, and which agendas were served. Bible should be capitalized, BTW.

    Thanks.

This country was founded on equal rights. It should, by law then, hold equal rights for all – white, black, gay, straight, male or female, regardless of race or religious beliefs. When any religious group mandates that their religious beliefs are the \”Right\” ones and other beliefs are \”wrong\”, that infringes on someone else\’s (an American Citizen\’s) beliefs, rights and ability to pursue happiness. Everyone should be given equal rights IN THE LAW.

If a straight married couple has the right to sue for loss of consortium, then a same-sex couple should also be allowed that right. By law.

What the Bible says is irrelevant, as that is the basis of a religious belief system. If you don\’t like it, then don\’t unite gay couples in your church! The more that religion is forced upon the legal rights of people in our country, the farther away from equality we get.

For those that call gays \”perverse\”, are so offended by the lifestyle, and feel they are being forced into dealing with this \”perversion\”, clean up your own life! Why are you so focused on what others are doing?? What are you threatened by?? Is your own house in order? Are your kids perfect? What have you done to help \”your fellow man\” lately?? Don\’t answer these questions here, on this board, but in your own life. Quit trying to force your own beliefs on others – why do you think you\’re any better than anyone else??
Open your minds just a little. You\’ll find that there\’s much more out there that\’s much more important that what your neighbors do in bed.
