N.Y. Central Mutual Cuts Rates for Homeowners, Renters Statewide

New York Central Mutual Fire Insurance Company, the largest regional writer of homeowners insurance in New York State, has announced that it is reducing rates on homeowners policies by an average of 10 percent statewide and as much as 27 percent in some areas.

The move also includes a 25 percent statewide reduction in the base premium of the company’s renters insurance policies, according to New York Central President and CEO V. Daniel Robinson, II.

The lower rates went into effect March 1 on all new homeowners and renters policies written by the company and April 1 for all existing customers whose policies are renewed on or after that date.

New York Central insures some 245,000 homes across New York, making it not only the largest regional carrier serving the homeowners market, but the state’s sixth largest overall writer of homeowners insurance.

Based in Edmeston, New York, the company was founded in 1899 and is represented by over 1,000 independent insurance agents in communities across the state.
