United States Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan announced that Gerald C. Deimel of Erie, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to a period of incarceration on charges of Health Care Fraud and False Statements Relating to Health Care Matters.
United States District Court Senior Judge Maurice Cohill sentenced Deimel to a period of 15 months in prison to be followed by a period of supervised release for three years. Deimel was also ordered to pay $90,071.81 in restitution representing funds he stole through a fraud scheme against a Workers’ Compensation Trust Fund which he reportedly perpetrated by creating false documents and making unauthorized withdrawals from a variety of bank accounts.
Deimel was also barred for a period of 13 years from participation in any ERISA covered benefit plan.
