Denise T. Flatt has been named vice president of property/casualty claims for Harleysville Insurance.
In this position, she is responsible for directing home office technical claims functions, specialty units and personnel. She also works closely with the company’s regional claims leaders regarding claims handling and reserving philosophies.
Flatt has been with Harleysville for five years. Most recently, she was assistant vice president of the company’s Southeast claims service center in Nashville, Tenn. Prior to that, she managed several departments at various times within that office, including litigation, general liability, automobile liability and workers compensation. Before joining Harleysville, she held a variety of claims management positions with CNA and Safeco.
Harleysville Insurance is a regional provider of insurance products and services for small and mid-sized businesses, as well as for individuals. Harleysville Mutual Insurance Company owns 56 percent of Harleysville Group Inc., a publicly traded holding company for nine regional property/casualty insurance companies collectively rated A- (Excellent) by A.M. Best Company. Harleysville Insurance – which distributes its products exclusively through independent insurance agencies – currently operates in 32 eastern and midwestern states.
