N.Y. Drivers Rank Atlantic Mutual At Top

March 3, 2004

Having had zero consumer complaints upheld by state insurance regulators in 2003, Atlantic Mutual has earned the top spot on New York State’s annual ranking of insurance companies that provide auto insurance.

Each year, the New York Insurance Department receives and investigates thousands of complaints from auto insurance consumers. The annual ranking is based on the number of complaints found to be of merit, or “upheld.” This is the second year in a row the New York Insurance Department has upheld no complaints against Atlantic Mutual.

“We consider our claims service to be the best in the industry,” said Dan Olmsted, senior vice president, Atlantic Mutual. “Having earned the top spot on New York State’s ranking is objective, independent proof of that — and it is representative of the outstanding claims service we provide in all our states. It’s really quite extraordinary that Atlantic Mutual has not had a complaint upheld in New York State in more than two years.”

Nearly nine million private passenger vehicles are currently registered and insured in New York State. The Annual Auto Complaint Ranking is considered by the New York Insurance Department as a tool consumers can use to evaluate competing insurance companies.
