The Hartford Provides Payment Relief to Customers Impacted by Hurricane Isabel

September 26, 2003

The Hartford Financial Services Group will continue to insure homeowners, automobile and commercial insurance customers hardest hit by Hurricane Isabel if they are temporarily unable to make their insurance payments.

Customers in designated areas of Delaware, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C., will continue to receive regularly scheduled premium notices, but the insurer will temporarily suspend cancellation for nonpayment of premium. The cancellation suspension period is scheduled to last until Oct. 10.

Robert Wilkey, The Hartford’s assistant vice president of catastrophe claim management, advised that the personal safety of customers is the primary concern and urges residents of the affected areas to continue to follow safety directives issued by public authorities.
