San Diego, Calif. (Feb. 11, 2014) – Atlas General Insurance Services, LLC, a national multi-line program manager, is pleased to announce the formation of its new division, Atlas Specialty Programs. This new division will be headed by industry veteran, Scott Polkinghorne, who will be based out of New York, New York.
The division will focus on the development of new programs targeted toward specialty property and casualty lines of insurance across the United States. Scott Polkinghorne, President of Atlas Specialty Programs, commented “Atlas Specialty Programs will complement Atlas’ sizable workers compensation business, allowing for a broader product offering for its’ valued customer base.”
Polkinghorne has over 35 years of experience in all facets of the insurance industry to include retail, wholesale, MGA and reinsurance. He started his career at Aon (formerly Alexander & Alexander) in Australia and more recently worked in both the London and US marketplaces. Since moving to the US in 2000, Polkinghorne has been responsible for the establishment of various reinsurance businesses including Benfield Fac Solutions, JLT Re and Lockton Re. Most recently, Polkinghorne was a director at US RE and was responsible for US RE’s new business origination.
