Four Nevada Army Guard soldiers are due to receive commendations Sunday for aiding a motorist trapped in a burning vehicle after a crash in March on Interstate 15 outside Las Vegas.

Sgt. David Bravo and Spc. Anna Shum are due to receive the Army Commendation Medal from 17th Sustainment Brigade Col. Vernon Scarbrough for rescuing the man from the vehicle before an explosion.

Spc. Michaelangelo Bonsignore and Pvt. 1st Class Kevin Martinez are slated to receive the Army Achievement Medal for directing traffic around the accident so Bravo and Shum could safely perform first aid.

The four are members of the guard’s 1864th Transportation Company.

The ceremony was scheduled for 11 a.m. at the North Las Vegas Readiness Center on Range Road in North Las Vegas.
