A fire that burned a yacht at a San Diego County boat yard caused an estimated $25 million in damage.
U-T San Diego says a Chula Vista, Calif., fire official gave that estimate Wednesday.
The blaze was reported last week aboard a 110-foot yacht called the Polar Bear at a yard near the Chula Vista Marina.
Deputy Fire Chief Justin Gipson says dozens of firefighters needed nearly two hours just to douse the largest flames and a full knockdown took nearly a day.
Gipson says a welder working on the yacht may have sparked the fire but the cause hasn’t been officially determined.
