A district court jury determined a former Medford, Ore., gynecologist is liable for more than $100,000 because he removed a patient’s healthy ovary and left a piece of plastic in her body after a 2007 robotic surgery.
The Mail Tribune newspaper reports that jurors determined Dr. Daniel Laury committed medical malpractice after hearing two days of testimony from the plaintiffs and seven physicians.
The lawsuit was filed by a couple seeking nearly $1 million in damages. The jury of four women and three men awarded more than $10,500 in medical expenses and $100,000 as compensation for physical pain and mental anguish.
Laury now lists Hermiston as the location of his practice.
