A former Miss Montana has been convicted of mail fraud and conspiracy by a federal jury in Missoula for actions involving an historic mansion.
The Daily Inter Lake reports that Christin D. Didier was found guilty late last month of seven counts of mail fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
Didier won the Miss Montana title in 1997 at age 24 and went on to compete for the Miss USA crown.
Prosecutors say she misrepresented herself to her insurance company in 2008 and persuaded them to improperly pay her temporary housing after a windstorm and fire damaged the Somers mansion that Didier purchased in 2005 for $1.1 million.
Didier subsequently filed for bankruptcy and was evicted from the mansion in September.
