Wyoming Hires 7 Workplace Safety Employees

Wyoming has hired seven employees to do workplace safety checks with new funding from state lawmakers.

The director of the Department of Workforce Services, Joan Evans, told KCWY-TV that the new employees will work under the state branch of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration or OSHA. They’ll be stationed across the state.

More than 200 people applied for the jobs and the new workers were hired from across the country.

State lawmakers took up the issue of workplace safety this year following the release of a yearlong study of Wyoming’s grim record as one of the worst states for deadly workplace accidents.
