The University of Utah Seismograph Stations says the magnitude 2.5 quake occurred around 4:07 p.m. Friday.
It was centered about two miles west of Bluffdale and three miles southeast of Herriman.
The earthquake was reported felt in Riverton, Herriman, South Jordan and other nearby towns.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
Scientists ask that anyone else who felt the quake fill out a survey on the Seismograph Stations’ website at www.quake.utah.edu.
