The Great Falls fire marshal says someone intentionally set fire to a house that was being remodeled, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
Neighbors who saw smoke coming from the home’s windows called Great Falls Fire/Rescue shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Fire Marshal Doug Bennyhoff tells the Great Falls Tribune that flammable liquid was used to start two fires in the house.
Owners Cody Cornelius and Ashley Forsberg said no one was in the house because it was being remodeled and was completely gutted. Forsberg says the house is insured, and another owner, Rob Forsberg, estimated the damage to be anywhere between $35,000 and $40,000.
The investigation continues, and no suspects have been named.
