Jury Rules for Baseball League in Wyoming Death

A Wyoming jury has ruled that a youth baseball league is not responsible for the death of a woman at a Casper ball field in 2008.

The jury concluded Casper Youth Baseball did not behave negligently in connection with the death of Jennifer Job-Massa, of Sioux Falls, S.D.

Job-Massa was killed when a shed at a baseball complex toppled in powerful winds.

The baseball league argued Job-Massa’s death resulted from an unforeseeable act of nature.

Attorneys for Job-Massa’s family had accused the league of doing nothing to ensure the shed was structurally sound or built according to city code.

The Casper Star-Tribune reported that the family also sued the company that built the shed. Court documents show the company settled with the family for $1 million.
