The Ventura Fire Department says some folks tried to de-flea their apartment but instead they nearly blew it up.
Battalion Chief Luis Espinosa says a family set off at least four flea bombs in their second-story apartment this week.
He says two adults and two children were leaving the apartment around 11 a.m. when a stove burner that had been left on ignited the pesticide.
Espinosa says no one was hurt but the blast blew out all the apartment windows, broke a door jam and caused a small fire.
Damage was put at $26,000.
