Eddy County, N.M., farmers and ranchers are eligible for disaster assistance from the federal government.
Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., said farmers and ranchers in the southeastern New Mexico county can apply for low-interest emergency loans from the Farm Service Agency to help them recovery from an ongoing drought in the region.
Bingaman said Eddy County farmers and ranchers were declared eligible for the assistance because of their proximity to Texas counties that have been declared disaster areas to the dry conditions.
