Wild River Foods is waiting for a decision on insurance coverage before deciding whether to rebuild the potato processing plant in Grandview, Wash. gutted by a July 1 fire.
The plant owned by Ochoa Ag Unlimited Foods of Boise produced french fries and hashbrowns. The fire left 140 employees without work.
The potato plant contributed about $70,000 in utility taxes to the city of Grandview. This month, the city council cut about $76,000 from the 2008 budget. The cuts include eliminating the animal control officer’s position, closing the pool early and not filling three seasonal parks maintenance jobs.
