Farmers Adds Pets to Auto Policies

July 29, 2008

Cats can have their nine lives and a deductible, too.

An insurance company is allowing Utah customers to add pets to their auto policies.

If their dog or cat is injured in an auto accident, the medical treatment can be covered for Farmers Insurance Group customers who add pets to their insurance package. The coverage is up to $600 per pet for treatment, and owners would also have financial coverage if the pet dies in an accident.

Farmers says customers have been asking for pet coverage, so the company came up with a new policy group, which will be available starting Aug. 1.
