California Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner deployed Department of Insurance consumer information experts to assist Santa Cruz’s Summit Fire survivors on the road to recovery. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the creation of a Disaster Assistance Centers in Corralitos. Poizner sent his staff to help fire survivors with their insurance-related questions and concerns as they work to rebuild their lives in the wake of the destructive Summit Fire.
“Fire victims have already been through so much hardship, the last thing they need is a drawn-out and difficult recovery. That’s why I have sent my insurance experts to assist fire survivors with any questions or concerns they may have,” Poizner said.
The Disaster Assistance Center is located at Corralitos Community Center, 26 Browns Valley Road in Corralitos. For more information, visit the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services Web site at www.oes.ca.gov.
Last month, Commissioner Poizner dispatched CDI fraud investigators to the Summit Fire zone to offer advice to fire victims about avoiding scam artists who routinely target disaster survivors. Since the Summit Fire broke out, CDI investigators and staff have worked collaboratively with CAL FIRE and the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Department, in addition to other local and state entities, to offer aid to fire victims.
