Just had my car repaired while on a trip in AZ. Ins co gave me 4 choices and offered more if I wanted. I have had past experience locally in CA and used my choice. Ins Co never steered me anywhere. This is not problem so lets not waste time trying to fix it. I dislike people like Kathy who whine about something that was taken care of. Our legislators should be working on more important issues.

I am the owner of a collision repair shop in central California. Recently I had my own cousin scheduled for repairs with parts ordered, signed repair order, etc. She was waiting for the other parties insurance company to step up so she would have a rental and no deductible. After stalling her for 3 weeks they did step up and steered her right out of my shop to their direct repair shop by telling her it would take to long for an appraiser to come out, rental car problems, etc. Steering tactics at their finest. This is an unfair business practice and would not be tolerated in any other industry. Please support SB 1167

If that’s the case, the company should be reported to the DOI along with all the documentation.

We report to the DOI everytime it happens that we know of. I’m sure there are many occasions when we don’t even know our customer is steered away. By the way, every time I have reported to the DOI they respond with a form letter and nothing ever becomes of it. I have left phone messages and have not even been contacted back.

I WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT, SO I GUESS THEY SHAFT THE TAXPAYERS. HAVE YOU READ ALL THE ARTICLES ABOUT THE POOR PEOPLE OF NEW ORLEANS BEING SHAFTED? HAPPENS HERE ALSO. THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY AND OIL COMPANIES ARE THE ONLY ONES MAKING RECORD PROFITS. HOW DO THEY DO THAT?

Wrong. I do work in the insurance industry but not for a carrier. You just showed yourself as being twice as stupid as before and that’s too bad. Reading your posts reminds me of my favorite thing to say to people that generally have no knowledge of the insurance industry; so after their diatribe, i look right at them, thank them and clearly state that they have just told me nothing and added irrelevance.

Imitation parts? Is that like imitation bacon bits? I have never heard of imitation parts? What are those? You sound like the typical insured that everyone hates to deal with. A total nutter wherein even your own family hates you.

“Look Sally, you plate is two inches too close to the end of the table. Please move it. I hate your blouse Sally, it clashes with your eye color, etc.

I’M NOT A POLITICIAN – JUST A CONCERNED CITIZEN WHO HAPPENS TO WORK FOR CITY GOVERNMENT. MY CONCERN IS PRESERVING MY RIGHT TO CHOICE AND MY FELLOW CITIZEN’S WHO DO NOT KNOW THEIR RIGHTS. THE INDUSTRY CAN STILL STEER PEOPLE WHO DO NOT ALREADY HAVE A CHOICE. THIS SEEMS LIKE A FAIR BILL FOR ALL. WHAT IS THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY SO AFAID OF?
