A Billings, Mont., company is voluntarily recalling bottled water it produces under the Red Lodge Spring Water label after a positive coliform bacteria test, the state health department said.
Yellowstone Ice & Water discovered the problem and immediately notified all of its customers and various state agencies, said owner Kevin Olson.
The water is distributed in Billings and Red Lodge in one- and 2.5 gallon disposable containers as well as three and five gallon returnable containers. The recall affects only Red Lodge Spring Water products produced from July 16-18 with product code numbers 071607, 071707 and 071807.
The affected water should not be consumed, but can be returned to the company for a refund.
“Yellowstone Ice & Water is fully cooperating to make sure the affected products are removed from distribution and that the cause of the contamination is corrected before production of these products is resumed,” said Howard Reid of the Department of Public Health and Human Services Food and Consumer Safety Section.
Symptoms of coliform infection include watery or bloody diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting.
