The U.S. Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued serious and other-than-serious citations against VTCU Corp. for safety violations found during inspections at the company’s Pocatello, Idaho facility. The citations carry proposed penalties totaling $116,000.
The serious citation alleges violations related to open-sided floors, bridge walkways, flammable liquids, personal protective equipment, cranes, hoisting units, electrical, slings, machine guarding, arc welding, housekeeping and lockout/tagout, which renders machinery inoperable during maintenance and repair.
The other-than-serious citation alleges violations related to recordkeeping, respiratory hazards, employee training, open-sided stairs, and electrical hazards.
VTCU Corp. manufactures and renovates electrical transformers. The company has 15 working days following receipt of the citations to contest the violations or request a meeting with OSHA to discuss the violation notices, including methods of correction, length of abatement periods and proposed penalties.
