CSC Licenses Legal Management Software to Insurers

June 16, 2005

California-based Computer Sciences Corporation announced that two insurers have licensed its legal management software.

The PMA Insurance Group, a property and casualty insurer specializing in workers’ compensation, and MAG Mutual Insurance Company, a physician-owned medical professional liability insurer in the Southeastern U.S., will use components of CSC’s Legal Solutions Suite to manage legal expenditures and improve processes and communication with outside legal counsel.

CSC’s Legal Solutions Suite, formerly known as LitigationAdvisor, is Web based and includes Legal e-Bill, Legal Bill Analyzer and Legal Matter Manager. It automates core legal management processes and provides integrated electronic invoicing to help insurers work more effectively with their law firms.

MAG Mutual will integrate the Legal Solutions Suite with CSC’s POINT IN policy and claims management software, which the insurer has been using since 1996.

The PMA Insurance Group will use CSC’s Legal e-Bill and Legal Bill Analyzer to manage its legal expenditures and automate its litigation management program. Automated bill review lets case managers set guidelines for rates and allowable charges by outside counsel.

Outside law firms can then review their invoices before they submit them over the Internet and get immediate feedback on errors or areas that need clarification, minimizing the number of invoices that must be reviewed by hand and reducing associated expenses.
