Bill signed:
SB 1872 by Senator Jeff Denham (R-Salinas) – Insurance: state departments. Exempts the University of California (UC) from restrictions placed on state agencies and their ability to negotiate life or disability insurance or an annuity. Specifically, this bill deletes UC from being defined as a “state agency.”
Bill vetoed:
SB 1157 by Senator Gloria Romero (D-Los Angeles) – Disability insurance: intoxication. Prohibits a health insurance policy from including a provision indicating that an insurer is not liable for any loss sustained by the insured while intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance, unless subscribed by a physician.
