Trident Insurance Grows Oregon Public Entity Program

June 10, 2004

Trident Insurance Services LLC, a member of Argonaut Group Inc.’s Public Entity Group, has purchased U.S. Risk of Oregon Inc. and its public entity underwriting operations from parent, U.S. Risk Insurance Group Inc. The sale includes all rights to J.G. Newman Co. of Portland, which will continue to offer public entity coverage through Trident as before.

The J.G. Newman, Co. name is known for property and casualty insurance for local governments in Oregon for more than 30 years. Founded in 1972, J.G. Newman Co. has principally served as a distributor on behalf of other companies, thus creating the opportunity to establish itself as a resource for Oregon’s public entity marketplace. J.G. Newman Co. provides customized insurance solutions to Oregon communities with the goal of helping them avoid and reduce the severity of their claims.

“The addition of U.S. Risk of Oregon Inc. and the J.G. Newman Co. will allow us to continue Trident’s growth in the State of Oregon while enhancing our ability to deliver underwriting, policy and claims services to our existing Oregon customers through a local presence,” said Mike Arledge, president of Trident Insurance Services. “This expansion furthers our commitment to broaden our offerings throughout the western United States and provides a strong platform for meeting the needs of public entities in neighboring states.”

Trident Insurance Services offers an all-in-one solution to public entities, giving agents access to sales, underwriting, loss control and claims management capabilities.
