Benchmark Medical Consultants Forms Alliance with Second Image

August 27, 2003

In a move that will reportedly save insurance companies and attorneys significant amounts of time and money, California-based Benchmark Medical Consultants announced a new joint-services partnership with California’s Second Image Document Service that will transform the way important documents vital to various claims are requested, retrieved, managed and disseminated.

The strategic alliance establishes a one-stop shop for those managing claims and requiring medical-legal consulting. It also enhances Benchmark’s existing services, which include providing administrative support for more than 1,400 healthcare and non-healthcare consultants around the world in more than 250 specialties, who serve the legal, insurance, and federal and state agencies in the personal injury, medical malpractice, workers’ compensation, and long-term disability industries.

“Joining forces with Second Image will redefine interaction between the insurance, legal, document copy service company, and various consultants, utilizing technology to create a seamless document management process and allow us to provide a more convenient, efficient and cost effective service for those in the claim and litigation industry,” said Kelly Denison, executive vice-president, marketing and business development for Benchmark. “By taking advantage of new technologies, we are able to dramatically reduce bureaucracy, time, costs and mountains of paperwork.”

Benchmark locates experts, schedules exams and receives all related documents, including photos, accident reports and medical records related documentation on any given claim or case. Second Image processes the document request from the insurance and/or legal industry, scans, and, distributes the records, which are posted to a secure Web-enabled database. The attorney initiates this process through the secured Web site or with a single phone call and all authorized persons associated with the case can gain access to documents via the password.
